Diss research- Portsmouth
As part of my dissertation on disability-friendly accessible urban green spaces, I started keeping an eye out for accessible cities in summer to get an idea of places to make case studies out of. I didn’t choose Portsmouth in the end as I wanted to focus more on more powerful regional areas, however from what I saw the city did all of it really well. It’s relatively flat and seems generally well-surfaced, so users of mobility aids should be able to move easily. It seems that there must be strong standards for the greenspace here as there were a lot of areas of really strong, well thought out landscape design.
