I think this design is pretty cool. The geometric patterns create a striking view and are balanced by colourful circles to soften the appearance. The designers have been really creative with the planting so there is interest in every season- in one section there are deciduous trees which are very eye-catching in autumn, whilst elsewhere there are perennials to create a lush summertime vibe. They have used columnar trees as well as tall upright seat backs to make varying  levels so the eye goes on a journey as it moves through the space.

I'm struggling to understand some of the renderings for this project so it's hard to say what it looks like overall. From what I can see thought its a vegetated take on a pretty standard courtyard. Some of the planting is slightly sloping towards the buildings which is a contemporary touch on letting nature in. The seating areas look like they're aiming to create small areas of privacy as they are all surrounded by huge planters, I love the different options for levels to sit on but honestly if you walked around the courtyard I think you'd spend the whole time jumping out your skin because you didn't realise there was someone sat there.

The idea behind this scheme is a really important one that I think should be a consideration in all landscape design, as the facilities provide opportunities for those who might be struggling for resources. There's a securely fenced playground, gym equipment, and even foosball tables to appeal to all the generations. I think using space like this, especially in a neighbourhood which seems like it has limited opportunity for connection, can really improve livelihoods and even have an impact on mental health - particularly men's. The only question i have about its design is the vast amounts of empty concrete with white lines on it. Whilst this does help the space blend with its surroundings, it seems like a wasted opportunity to provide the people with vital greenspace that can make such a difference to their lives. The material choice here takes a considerate space and almost gives it a carpark or prison yard vibe.
