Mary Bartelme Park
Site Design
I think this design is designed practically, with a lot of thought given to function and spatial usage.
The clear division of space will draw all kinds of people in, as it serves a range of purposes. I particularly think that the small hills added are a great feature- as this provides more interesting levels and will be much more appealing for people to sit and linger on. The metal sculptures, seats, and rusty planters in the 'gateway fountain' create a plaza feel, whilst combining materials from different aesthetics well as to make them look harmonious. Big fan.
Shanghai Carpet

This design has a nice proportion of features and is laid out very cleverly, so that you can get where you need to be and walk through different types of area. I'm sure the water might attract some wildlife too. For some reason though, the whole thing just doesn't inspire me that much. It feels like they had a list of things they wanted to include and just laid them down one by one, which is an unhelpful trick I am also prone to. I'm just not sure who will ever stand between 3 clunky planters, or who wants to sit on a mega bench with no back support and way too much leg room.
Blue Stick Garden

Forgive me if I'm being cynical but is that not just some sticks. Not even spaced apart sticks so kids can play in them. Maybe I'm missing some deep philosophical meaning but there's no supporting text on the website. Who knows.
